Blue Maestro was delighted to win the prestigious Innovation Award at the 2016 Progressive Preschool awards held this week at the Dorchester Hotel in Central London. The Progressive Preschool Awards recognise outstanding contributions across a wide range of categories in the preschool children retail sector. Now in its fourth year, the Progressive Preschool Awards 2016 is the UK’s leading awards of its kind.
Hosted by the actor and comedian Charlie Baker, the awards were attended by over 400 suppliers and retailers who came together to celebrate the entire preschool industry. Blue Maestro was entered for its connected pacifier – Pacif-i™. Pacif-i uses Bluetooth Low Energy technology and a temperature sensor in the pacifier’s teat to take a baby’s temperature and relay it to a parent’s smartphone up to 75 meters/230 feet away. This is an ideal way to measure a baby’s temperature without disturbing them.
The responsibility of judging the product categories fell entirely to this year’s impressive judging panel, which comprised top level buyers from some of the nation’s top retailers including major multiples (such as Mothercare, Tesco, Jo Jo Maman Bebe and Toymaster) and specialists independent retailers from across the nursery spectrum. Six deserving finalists in each category were named, the votes were counted and verified in September and remained a closely guarded secret until the award ceremony.
“This year’s awards ceremony was by far the most engaging yet,” said Rob Willis, publishing director of Progressive Preschool magazine, who organises the awards. “With a record numbers of entries, expert judging panels and a real air of competition, today’s results perfectly reflect the creativity and flair the preschool sector has to offer.”
This award caps a busy fortnight for awards for Blue Maestro. Last week we were award the Peer to Peer Award at the UK’s leading innovation trade show held in Manchester. That award was also for the innovation around the use of Bluetooth Low Energy technology.
